THE SIXTH AP FUND

The Sixth AP Fund (AP6) is one of five AP funds in the national pension system with a mission to maximize long-term return on managed pension capital. Funds must build a buffer to handle outflows in times of large-scale retirement. AP6 manages buffer capital, but differs from other AP funds through investment rules. AP6 to invest in unlisted companies, ie in companies not listed on the stock exchange. The other AP funds will invest primarily in listed equities and fixed income securities. Another difference is that AP6 is a closed fund, which means that neither is ongoing payments to and disbursements from the Fund. It follows that profits are reinvested and that any losses must be covered by the fund capital.
