SyntheMed, Inc. is a biomaterials company engaged in the development and commercialization of medical devices for therapeutic applications. The Company's products and product candidates, all of which are based on its, bioresorbable polymer technology, are primarily surgical implants designed to prevent or reduce the formation of adhesions (scar tissue) following a range of surgical procedures. Its product, REPEL-CV Bioresorbable Adhesion Barrier (REPEL-CV), is a bioresorbable film designed to be placed over the surface of the heart at the conclusion of cardiac surgery to reduce the formation of post-operative adhesions. In March 2009, the Company obtained clearance from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for selling REPEL-CV domestically.
