ASIA PACIFIC MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION

Two-thirds of the world’s population lives in Asia Pacific, and the healthcare needs of its majority are currently underserved in the region. With a growing and aging population, as well as improved patient awareness, demand for quality healthcare has grown exponentially in the region. Currently, there are approximately 320 million (8%) people in Asia Pacific ages 65 or older and this number is expected to grow to approximately 600 million (12%) by 2032. In addition, the growing middle class a... nd resulting increase in lifestyle diseases is expected to contribute heavily to the doubling of healthcare expenditure in the next six years. Addressing this growing demand requires industry coordination across Asia Pacific and calls for a different, innovative thinking/approach from all stakeholders in the healthcare economies. Patients, policymakers, payers, practitioners, healthcare institutions, as well as the industry, need to come together to jointly collaborate differently to solve their common healthcare challenges and raise standards of care for their patients. To achieve this, APACMed is led locally. As an association of multinational and regional medical device manufacturers and associations, they are uniquely positioned to engage all stakeholders to address and respond effectively to the dynamic challenges facing their region. APACMed is working today to address areas such as a common industry Code of Conduct, Regulatory Harmonization, Socio-economic Value Analysis, Data Collection, Study Reports and providing platforms for knowledge exchange.More
