WEBSTER GROVES SCHOOL DISTRICT

Webster Groves School District has long placed a high priority on education. The organization of the Webster Groves School District predates the incorporation of the City of Webster Groves by 28 years. A group of 21 citizens unanimously voted to organize a district on August 25, 1868. After a month, a census was taken, and 255 school-age children were found. Classes began on October 11, 1869, in rooms rented from the Congregational Church.
