Testpad is an online tool that takes a different approach to manual test management. Instead of managing cases one at a time, you create free-form structured checklists. This lends itself to a wide range of testing styles, including traditional test cases with steps and expected outcomes, but also works well for steering exploratory testing, the manual side of agile testing, syntax highlighting BDD given/when/then, or just ad-hoc where you write lists of simple prompts. Editing is keyboard driv... en with a slick javascript-powered UI, and organization of plans into releases is all drag-drop. Reports are surprisingly effective; their result grids make a great visual on how testing is progressing. Plus there’s lightweight integration with issue trackers, including JIRA. Testpad is pitched at QA professionals looking for a more pragmatic/productive approach to testing, and at beginners looking for an upgrade to the annoying mess they’re in with spreadsheets.
