SynOptics Communications is a California-based early computer network equipment vendor. During its hay day, the company was the market leader in Ethernet LAN hubs and popularized the concept of the Ethernet hub and high-speed Ethernet networking over copper and fiber optic cables. SynOptics merged with Wellfleet Communications in 1994 to form Bay Networks. Â SynOptics Communications was founded in 1985 by Andrew Ludwick and Ronald Schmidt.Â
