SEMO ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE
SEMO Electric serves a service area of 75 miles north to south and east to west. SEMO Electric began with a few lights on a farm homestead and now serves thousands of homes, farms, and businesses. Originally serving Scott, New Madrid, and Mississippi counties, the Cooperative now serves Stoddard, Bollinger, and Cape Girardeau counties as well. A cooperative was formed by a group of farmers in Mississippi County in southeast Missouri in 1938 to provide electricity to rural areas.
