The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office is a legal agency that investigates and prosecutes crimes in San Francisco and supports victims of crime. It is made up of prosecutors, victim advocates, paralegals, and other support staff. The organization works to hold offenders accountable and protect victims. It brings actions involving consumer fraud, including real estate fraud, insurance fraud, and financial fraud against elders; and brings actions to ensure environmental protection. The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office was established in 1856 and is based in San Francisco, California. Its first district attorney was Henry H. Byrne.
