Rocky Nook was founded in early 2006 in Santa Barbara, California, and is closely associated with dpunkt.verlag in Germany. As of 2016 the company holds its main offices in San Rafael, CA. The focus of Rocky Nook’s publishing business is on Digital Photography. However, other areas related to modern photography, such as imaging and computer technology, are equally as important to us. Rocky Nook’s mission is to publish books on those leading-edge developments in photography and imaging that... really matter, to filter out the marketing noise so often associated with them, and to focus on their practical use in the photographic workflow. The ultimate goal of all that is image quality. Their books are written by photographers having a substantial amount of experience and deep technical understand of the subject matter. Although our books will cover technology to a large extent, our mission goes beyond technology, promoting its use to support creativity, and to improve the quality and efficiency of photographic work.
