ROBEEZ

When Sandra Wilson was dismissed from her job at an airline company in 1994, she decided to make herself self-employed, driven by the desire to spend more time with her 18-month-old son Robert. Inspired by her little one and her first walking attempts, she made for her son a pair of colorful leather shoes with a soft sole to protect his little feet. She quickly realized that the shoes, thanks to their soft sole, helped their child to improve their balance and stability when walking, as they ... could "feel" the ground beneath their feet. Sandra decided to name the shoes after her son - so the name Robeez originated. Soon, Sandra wondered if other mothers in North America would be looking for suitable, comfortable shoes for their children and would like to find shoes of this kind. That's why she decided to do 20 pairs of soft soles and to participate in the Vancouver Gift Show - a trade fair. The result was overwhelming. At the end of the show Sandra had contracts with 15 dealers who wanted to sell their shoes. Sandra's house became the headquarters and the production site for Robeez Footwear. Sandra quickly learned everything she needed to know about leather, cutting, sewing, design, sales and distribution. This was the beginning of an incredible success story.More
