PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE

In addition to having a substantial number of academic and certificate offerings, Prairie State College has a large number of full-time and highly qualified faculty members. Serving Cook County and the Chicago Heights area in Illinois, Prairie State College offers degrees and career certificates in over 100 fields of study, which include associate’s degrees in everything from Business to Art History to Social Work. There are also a number of pre-study options, whereby one takes all of the f... oundational courses in a particular discipline requiring graduate-level education. These include pre-physical therapy, pre-medicine and pre-occupational therapy. A majority of Prairie State College faculty are full-time. This benefits students, since full-time faculty have regular office hours and are more accessible than part-time instructors. The qualifications of the faculty are also impressive, with many having master’s or doctoral degrees. Since Prairie State has transfer agreements with a number of public and private Illinois colleges and universities, students interested in transferring to a four-year school may do so without losing credits. Some of the schools with which Prairie State has transfer agreements are Chicago State University, University of Illinois, Governors State University and Columbia College. Student services at Prairie State are all located in one facility for convenience and include free academic, career, personal and transfer counseling.
