Polygelco is a Cambridge-based technology company with an operating facility in Alsace, France and a global licensing programme. The global market for plastics is approximately 240 million tons and growing faster than the worlds average GDP. While these materials have transformed their world with their many applications the problem of their reuse is still very much to be resolved. A large proportion still goes to landfill or is used in ways which is environmentally unsound or which do not ful... ly utilize potential. Similarly, approximately 60% of used tyres go to landfill or are burned. These issues are now understood to be environmental problems of global proportions and governments are legislating against damaging disposal methods. With these growing sources of scrap material new technologies must be developed to solve the environmental problem and make economic use of the world’s supply of used plastics.More
