Pleiogenix is a clinical-stage bio-pharmaceutical company that is focused on safe and effective treatments for liver and other fibrotic diseases with significant unmet medical needs. Fibrotic diseases impose a major socioeconomic burden on modern societies and account for up to 45% of deaths in the developed world. The initial diseases that Pleiogenix is targeting are non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) / Fibrosis, alcoholic hepatitis (AH), COVID-19, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), with additional diseases to follow. NASH is a severe form of the chronic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). AH is a deadly liver disease resulting in mortality in most patients within 6 months, in the absence of a liver transplant. The NASH market is estimated to be $35-40 billion by 2025, while the AH market is estimated to be $575 million by 2023. COVID-19 is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection; there are ~503 million cases resulting in ~6.2 million deaths (global data; 4/17/22).
