Founded in 1996, Piedmont has grown to two partnerships managing $45 million of capital invested in 23 portfolio companies. They are classic venture capital investors, concentrating on early stage companies (past the seed stage and ready for the first or second rounds of institutional venture capital) in the areas of information technology and healthcare. They invest in companies geographically focused in the southeastern United States but They will consider investments outside of this region when there is a compelling reason to do so.
