PENNYRILE ALLIED COMMUNITY SERVICES

Pennyrile Community Action Agency was created on July 1, 1966, and resides at the Christian County Courthouse. The organization was made up of ten staff members in Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties. The Baker-Hickman Building was also home to the Hopkins-Muhlenberg Community Action Agency, which was founded in 1966. The two counties were served by nine staff members. The two Community Action Agencies merged on July 1, 1974, and then added the counties of Caldwell, Crittenden, Lyon, and Livings... ton to create Pennyrile Allied Community Services. As a result, the 9-county Community Action Agency aligned with the Pennyrile Area Development District. PACS began providing many services including Head Start, CETA programs, Manpower programs, Employment programs, Aging programs, and Transportation programs.More
