Mindat.org is a mineralogy database and mineralogical reference website on the internet. The site contains worldwide data on minerals, mineral localities, mineral photographs, and other mineralogical information. It also contains mineralogical data about a few spots on the moon. Mindat.org was launched in 2000 by [Jolyon Ralph](https://www.crunchbase.com/person/jolyon-ralph). It is currently an outreach project of the Hudson Institute of Mineralogy, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit education foundation based in New York, United States.
