LASIK MD was founded by Drs. Mark Cohen and Avi Wallerstein in 2001, with their first clinic opening in Montreal. The doctors shared a vision: They wanted to make laser vision correction as ubiquitous and widespread as glasses and contacts, and challenge the perception of vision correction by showcasing how simple and affordable a procedure it can be. After acquiring a privately-owned laser vision correction clinic, the doctors grew this business model, focusing on the affordability and lifestyle benefits of LASIK.
