Insight Energy LLC was established to provide acquisition, development, investment and asset management services to financial investors looking for opportunities in the power generation and renewable energy industries. Over the past twenty years, the company or its principals have identified, acquired, co-invested, and managed businesses worth well over $1 billion, including over 2200 MW (equity ownership) of electrical generating facilities, renewable energy production facilities and energy tec... hnology businesses. The company is headed by Jeff Grundman and Phil Pickett who have worked together since 1995. They were among the first employees of Rolls-Royce Power Ventures (RRPV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Rolls-Royce plc, created to develop electricity generating companies utilizing Rolls-Royce technology and services. During their seven years at RRPV, Jeff and Phil were instrumental in growing the company from 7 to 130 direct employees and over 300 operations staff at the 20 different power generation companies created around the world. In 2002, Jeff and Phil founded Insight Energy with other partners to develop and acquire mid-size generation projects with financial backing from a major private equity firm. In 2004, with a joint venture partner, they were successful in securing an electricity sales agreement to anchor the development of a green field 580 MW combined cycle power project in Canada. In 2005, Jeff and Phil started working with Stark Investments, a large multi-strategy alternative investment fund management company. While working with Stark, Jeff and Phil founded a team focusing on energy infrastructure investments and subsequently closed and managed over $500m of equity investments in power generation and renewable energy assets.More
