IKII adopts dual pricing model. Besides direct-to-consumer business model where urgent consumers expect to receive their luggage within 3 business days.
On top of that, IKII is the 1st travel brand in the market to launch pre-order business model to eliminate inventory cost, making it possible to offer further 30% of saving, selling price from as low as SGD159. The pre-order campaign is held at regular intervals (currently 4 times a year), where each campaign opens for 14 days, and customers may expect to receive their luggage within 4-5 weeks (3 weeks for production and 1-2 week for shipping) after the closing of the pre-order campaign. In other words, customers wait for about 2 months in exchange for the 30% saving. Thanks to Airasia, 80% of the travellers book their trips 2 months ahead, thus the time frame for delivery of pre-ordered luggage would be fit with a majority of travelersโ schedules. This view is well validated in the Malaysian market, where customers who are more conservative in spending are willing to wait in order to receive a high-quality product at a much lower price.
Pre-order business model has made the operation more productive & efficient. It reduces the capital intensity of the business, as inventory cost is kept low. In other words, the pre-order business model reduces business risk and enhances cash flow. Such a model is especially powerful when it comes to new market penetration, where setting up a website is all it takes to start a business in a new country/region.
