HUTCHISON TELECOMMUNICATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Hutchison Telecommunications International is a leading international provider of mobile and fixed-line telecommunications services with operations in eight countries and territories. They currently operate mobile telecommunications networks in Hong Kong, India, Israel, Sri Lanka, Paraguay, Ghana and Macau. They also own interests in companies that provide marketing and network services for mobile telecommunications network in Thailand. In Hong Kong, they operate various digital mobile networks... including a third-generation, or 3G, network. They also provide fixed-line telecommunications services to corporate and retail customers in Hong Kong. In 2003, they had a total turnover of HK$10,104 million and a net loss of HK$214 million, and for the six months ended June 30, 2004 they had a total turnover of HK$6,891 million and a net profit of HK$773 million (including a one-time profit of HK$1,300 million from the placement of shares in one of their subsidiaries). They are a newly formed subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa, a conglomerate based in Hong Kong and listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
