HOOD THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina, has a very specific purpose and mission: to educate and prepare its students for the ministry. While Hood admits students from all Christian denominations, it is affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and has traditionally admitted students primarily from this church. While it does offer a diploma in Biblical Studies, Hood is primarily a graduate school, granting master’s and doctoral degrees in Divinity, Ministry a... nd Theological Studies. As a school that is thoroughly committed to Christian spirituality and study, Hood’s campus life includes chapel services, pastoral counseling and a gospel choir. Those seeking admission are, most importantly, expected to have a wholehearted desire to serve in the Christian ministry. Therefore, three pastoral references and an essay on one’s Christian faith are required for admission, along with an application and transcripts. Financial aid is awarded and usually covers partial tuition. Scholarships are granted based on relevant academic and/or personal qualifications or accomplishments, while grants and loans are provided to those who have a significant financial need.More
