FLEURETTE GROUP
Fleurette Group is a private company headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which is primarily engaged in natural resource development in Africa. Much of its work is focused on mining and exploration in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where Fleurette’s subsidiaries and ventures have led to the creation of 30,000 new jobs, and where it remains one of the largest tax payers in the country through its subsidiaries and ventures. Mission and Philosophy The Fleurette Group i... s proud of its unwavering and long-term commitment to the DRC and its people, and will continue to facilitate significant private investment to support the country’s development. Fleurette sees its own pioneering and entrepreneurial drive in the field of natural resources development as a means for raising the living standards of the local populations in the countries where it operates. In the DRC, Fleurette’s investment has led the creation not only of jobs but also transformative infrastructure improvement, such as new roads, schools, health clinics and public services. Much of this was made possible by Fleurette’s CSR programs as well as the significant tax revenues local governments received from Fleurette Group’s various subsidiaries and partnerships, which in 2013 alone totalled at $370 million. Leadership The Fleurette Group consists of various businesses, all of which are held under Fleurette Properties Limited, a holding group established in 2006. Global strategic management is overseen by a Board of Directors, as well as an Advisory Board. The Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors is Eles Dobronsky. Additional Directors are James Levy,CBE QC and Rob Drieduite. Fleurette’s Senior Advisor is Dan Gertler, also known for co-founding the Gertler Family Foundation, being appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Congo in Israel in 2003, and for his talent for bringing together divergent interests and players to form fruitful business opportunities for investments. Key Projects Fleurette is one of the largest private companies operating in the DRC. It has directly invested more than $1.5 billion in the DRC since 2006, and has sourced $7 billion of investment in the country. • Copper and Cobalt: In partnership with Glencore, Fleurette is engaged in two major copper-cobalt mining projects in the DRC. Mutanda Mining (MUMI) is a large-scale copper-cobalt mining and development in the Katanga Province, where in 2014 the partnership mined 20,000 metric tons of cobalt and 200,000 metric tons of copper. Katanga Mining is a copper-cobalt development located in the Katanga region, which is expected to become the DRC's largest producer of high-grade copper cathode. In 2014 its mining outputs were 165,000 metric tons of copper and 14,000 tons of cobalt. • Oil: Through its subsidiaries, the Fleurette Group is operating the Block I & 2 in Lake Albert, where it is involved in joint oil exploration with the DRC government. Seismic testing confirms a potential of 3 billion barrels of oil in place. Economists estimate that once the oil extraction begins at the rate of 50,000 barrels per day, as expected, the DRC economy will improve by as much as 25%. *Gold: A major holder in the SMB joint venture, Fleurette owns two world-class gold concessions (1,250km2) with excellent potential for large-scale, high-grade gold deposits that adjoin one of Africa’s largest undeveloped gold projects, covering the extensions of gold anomalies from the world-class 20 million oz Kibali Gold project which Randgold and AngloGold Ashanti are currently developing in northeastern DRC. • Agriculture: Kitoko Food Farm is a "kibbutz-style" agricultural initiative that employs approximately 90 DRC residents. Utilizing the latest irrigation and fertilization technologies, the Farm yields two to four harvests per year, and is projected to become one of Africa’s leading agricultural enterprises in the very near future. Corporate Social Responsibility & the DRC The Fleurette Group’s commitment to the betterment of the communities where it operates is virtually unparalleled among Africa-based natural resource development enterprises. It has facilitated significant measures to improve the lives of Africa’s most vulnerable populations, including: building new hospitals, schools and roads, and creating infrastructure for water, electricity and transportation. Importantly, alongside this direct work, Fleurette has invested in a number of initiatives that promote and enable economic improvement and future stability, by addressing the local population’s need for clean water, sustainable agriculture, viable fishing, and long-term employment preparedness
