Empower, a digital content provider, provides emerging markets with reliable, fast, and affordable access to content on the internet – without the need of mobile data. Through “Last Mile Internet Caching” the delivery of web content is done through downloading it once from the internet and making it available to an entire community without incurring costs for each user. The product manages demand and optimizes data usage to provide affordable access to the internet. This technology close... s the access gap for refugee communities around the world. Worked on numerous aspects of starting a new venture including pilot research, market validation, fundraising, product development, securing partnerships and team building. Partnered with the UNHCR to pilot the Empower solution and conduct missions assessing internet connectivity across three refugee settlements. Secured $100k in funding and start-up grants to sustain over 1 year of operations and product development. Received acknowledgment from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Presented as 1 of 6 Global Finalist teams at the UN Headquarters in New York for $1M of seed funding. Participated in the Hult Prize accelerator program in Boston presenting to executives at Google and Verizon.More
