Director of State Civil is the official source for citizens of Québec for official documents pertaining to their civil status: certificates, copies of acts, and attestation of birth, marriage, civil union, and death. It is part of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Development, and is headed by the Registrar of Civil Status, who is the sole public officer for civil status in Québec as provided in the Civil Code of Québec.
