COSPETROGAS
Oil exploration began in Senegal in the 1950s. After several unsuccessful exploration campaigns, heavy oil was discovered off the Casamance, at Dôme Flore and Dôme Gea, in 1967. This oil was not found. however not exploited because not profitable enough. Small gas deposits were discovered in Diamniadio in 1987 and 1993 (DN14) then in Gadiaga in 1997, their production was mainly used for industrial consumption and local electricity production.
