The mission of Munich-based start-up company Cliqz is to reinvent web navigation. In line with the principle of ‘putting the user first’, the brains behind CLIQZ have uncompromisingly aligned the development of their products with the needs of users. Some sixty experts from more than 25 countries are involved in developing key Internet technologies such as browser and search functions. The people behind CLIQZ view the Internet from a European perspective, thus setting great store by data privacy, but also by market diversity and freedom of choice. The company was founded by Jean-Paul Schmetz in April 2008 as 10betterpages GmbH and renamed Cliqz GmbH in January 2015. Jean-Paul Schmetz and Marc Al-Hames are the company’s joint-CEOs. Since May 2013, Cliqz GmbH has been majority-owned by Burda GmbH. In July 2013 the company embarked on its most ambitious project yet – the development of CLIQZ web navigation technology. CLIQZ for Firefox was launched in June 2014, gaining over 900,000 active daily users in the short time since then. The company has also developed test apps for iOS, Android and Chrome (some of which are not yet publicly accessible).More
