This is done for and on behalf of business owners. If a member of public recognises a suspect they can report the information anonymously we then pass the information to the Police. CAT prevention is a service that helps businesses prevent crime and identify suspects. The CAT service allows retailers or businesses to report crime that they experience directly to CAT. From this CAT analyses and evaluates the suspects information sent from the retailer this includes CCTV. If the evidence shows a clear indication that a crime has taken place. CAT then reports the suspected crime to the Police, this is usually, Theft (Shoplifting) or Anti-social behaviour. The images or video of the suspected suspect(s) are then uploaded to the Catch A Thief UK website, for the public to view and anonymously report the suspect. Any images are then shared on Catch A Thief UK's social media platforms, such as Facebook or Twitter, this is done to deter future crime and get the best possible result to identify the suspect(s). As well as identifying suspects CAT also shows a proactive presence in store by displaying powerful warning signs which will warn any potential suspect(s) that they are being recorded on CCTV and if they are spotted stealing from the premises, that their image may be displayed on the Catch A Thief UK website.
