Dr. Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade bought a Ford Landau in 1979, but the dealership went bankrupt before handing over the vehicle. As compensation for the undelivered car, Carlos stayed with the dealership, named Vepel. After about 6 years, the CAOA Group - name formed from the initials of its founder - reached the level of the largest Ford dealership in Latin America. In the following years CAOA became an official importer of other brands. In 1998, it represented the Japanese manufacturer Subaru. Hyundai Tucson was the best-selling sports utility in Brazil. In 1999, Hyundai also passed its representation to CAOA in Brazil, after passing through the hands of two other distributors. In 2001, Hyundai became the leading brand in the import market and Tucson became the best-selling sports utility. In 2007, the group inaugurated the CAOA Vehicle Assembly, resulting from the initial investment of R $ 1.2 billion, built in the Agribusiness District of Anápolis . [ 9 ] The factory awarded Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade the title of "Entrepreneur of the Year of Industry" by Isto É Dinheiro magazine. In 2010, the Anápolis factory was recognized as "Empresa do Bem" by IstoÉ Dinheiro magazine, for the waste reuse program for vehicle production and reforestation participation in the Central-West region. In the last quarter of 2013, the Anápolis factory, which already produced Tucson, HR and HD78, underwent a new investment cycle to start ix35 production. The contribution of R $ 600 million guaranteed improvements in the assembly line with the inclusion of 10 robots, responsible for about 50% of the welding work. In May 2014, the ix35 of 10,000 was left from the CAOA assembly line, and the Group completed its 35 years of existence. In 2017, Hyundai CAOA ranked first in the vehicle after-sales satisfaction survey, according to JD Power, which interviewed more than 3,700 owners who acquired new cars in the last 12 months in the country.
