Byke is a peer-to-peer bicycle rental scheme that operates world-wide. Anybody with a bike that is unused at certain times during the day or week can list their bike and be contacted by nearby commuters or travelers who need a readily available mode of transport. They can rent the bike by the day, and then must return the bike to the location where they found it. Internet users or smart phone users with an iPhone, Android or Blackberry can search based on their location, with the service using the NakdReality.com location search. The scheme is believed to be the first of it's kind in the world, and follows the pattern of peer to peer car rental schemes such as whipcar.co.uk in the UK which were introduced in 2010.
