Students are flocking to Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas to get specialized career training and continuing education. Through continuing education, students may pursue certifications and licensures in highly specialized industrial and professional careers. One may obtain certificates in such specific areas as Aviation Maintenance, Firefighting, Automotive Repair, Food Service Management and Paralegal Studies. Other continuing education courses offer training for such fields as Certified Nu... rsing Assistance, Insurance Coding, Phlebotomy, Air Conditioning Technology and Plumbing. Continuing education also provides training and workshops for business professionals. These may be taken by an individual or a group and include everything from business grammar to telephone etiquette to resolving conflicts. With more than 160 programs of study, Amarillo has various other study options including associate’s degrees in everything from Theatre Arts to Nursing, leading either to a four-year university transfer or to entering the workforce. Student support includes career planning, academic advising, tutoring, adult-student support services and “Dr. Bob,” a division devoted to counseling and educating students in everything from stress-management to substance abuse.
