Based in Germany, Alife Foods is a cultivated meat startup offering a cell-cultured schnitzel using stem cell technology. The company’s process involves harvesting myosatellite and muscle cells from cows and growing them using plant-based growth media. The cells are then combined with plant-based components to create the final product. To make its schnitzel, Alife Foods uses four ingredients: cultivated beef, wheat protein, panade (wheat flour mixed with vegetable oil), and methylcellulose (a derivative of cellulose that is used as an emulsifier/thickener).
